On 10.10.2020 the DRESDEN-concept Science Exhibition was festively opened on the forecourt of the Kulturpalast. The exhibition themes: digitalization, life, climate & water, mobility, material and cultural assets serve to provide a better overview – de facto they permeate it in many ways. Climate change, demographic change, pandemics and megacities are just some of the major challenges facing our society. Scientists around the world are working to develop innovative solutions. The numerous research institutions in Dresden are making an important contribution with their excellent research. CeTI presented the surfboard-demonstrator as part of the exhibition.

How will we live in the future?

The overarching question posed by the DRESDEN-concept science exhibition is: “How will we live in the future?”. In the research fields of digitization, life, climate & water, mobility, material and cultural assets, vividly presented examples of cooperative research projects and innovations by Dresden scientists provide visitors to the exhibition with answers to this question. By integrating playful elements, children and young people are also specifically addressed and introduced to the world of research.

  • A person using the Surfboard demonstrator

Using the example of the surfboard demonstrator, participants were allowed to experience how new technologies will change communication, the economy and people’s lives in the future. Here, using virtual reality, the user is taken into the scenario of surfing in the water via a moving surfboard. The user can learn how to surf under guidance and direct feedback. The training for the user takes place via avatars on a display, which shows the movement in the animation.

The exhibition is a traveling exhibition, which is currently in Weißwasser/Oberlausitz after three stops in Dresden. Here you can find information about the current location and past stations.
