Empowering Interaction: Human-in-the-Loop in the tactile internet.

The haptic Internet is revolutionising connectivity and human-computer interaction. At the recent AAAS meeting, we had the opportunity to showcase our vision thanks to the panel moderated by Prof. Shu-Chen Li, CeTI speakers who brought different expertise to the conversation: Prof. Frank Fitzek discussed innovations in communication networks, Prof. Stefanie Speidel explored the role of AI in precision medicine and surgical care, and Prof. Patrick Seeling addressed the challenges of ultra-reactive digital environments. One of the key points of the discussion was how AI, advanced networks and emerging technologies are reshaping digital interactions. The concept of negative latency, in which predictive processing reduces delay to imperceptible levels, stood out as a breakthrough innovation that improves real-time responsiveness. Building on this momentum, our Cluster of Excellence will actively participate in AAAS 2025 together with the TU Dresden, presenting our latest research and interactive demonstrations. Visitors had the chance to experience cutting-edge innovations first-hand, including Negative Latency Technology, which pushes the boundaries of responsiveness in digital interactions, and the Juggling Demo, a real-life demonstration of ultra-low latency control systems in action. Our aim is to inspire engaging discussions and foster new collaborations, exploring the future of human-machine synergy.
