Surgery
Surgery is one of the research areas of the CeTI project, aimed at integrating the Tactile Internet into operating rooms to reduce the 5.7 million annual deaths caused by surgical errors and limited access, worsened by the shortage of surgeons in an aging society. Using CeTI sensors and advanced cognitive models, the goal is to improve collaboration between surgeons and machines, promoting shared autonomy and the learning of complex surgical skills.

Application Areas
Shared autonomy with cognitive robots
Semi-automation of surgical tasks, such as suturing, using multi-arm cognitive robots.
Immersive skill learning in the metaverse
Immersive learning of advanced surgical skills through interactive simulations.
Expected Results
- Creation of a database with 1000 demonstrations of surgical skills.
- Development of a semi-automation model for complex tasks like suturing.
- Availability of a multi-arm system for autonomous surgery and an immersive training curriculum in the metaverse.
