Dresden once again proved to be at the heart of global innovation. From May 19–20, the International Congress Center was transformed into a vibrant hub for the IEEE 6G Summit Dresden 2026, bringing together industry leaders, researchers, and tech enthusiasts to explore the next generation of mobile communication. As a key driver of innovation, the Cluster of Excellence CeTI was thrilled to be part of the event, showcasing how the future of the Tactile Internet relies on the power of 6G.
The practical application of the Tactile Internet, enabling real-time interaction, remote control, and the democratization of skills, hinges on the substantial bandwidth and near-zero latency that 6G aims to provide. To demonstrate how this technology will actively transform human-machine collaboration, CeTI presented two interactive live demonstrators at our booth.
Visitors were invited to step into the operating room of the future with The Walkable OR, a demo highlighting how AI-assisted procedures, advanced image recognition, and teleoperated robotics can seamlessly augment human skill in high-stakes healthcare environments.
Additionally, the Spirit Fingers demonstration showcased intuitive robot control at its finest. By utilizing a specialized sensor glove equipped with IMU sensors, human gestures were captured and translated into robotic joint angles in real time. Powered by advanced motion-processing algorithms designed for next-generation Human-Machine Interfaces, the setup delivered a completely seamless control experience despite its underlying technical complexity.
Beyond the hands-on setups, the summit provided a fantastic platform for networking and expert insights. The CeTI team engaged in inspiring discussions about both the challenges and opportunities of future networks, connecting with brilliant minds dedicated to driving tactile and ultra-reliable communication forward.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, tried out our demonstrators, shared visionary ideas, and discussed the future of connectivity with us. We are excited to keep sharing our progress as we actively shape the future of 6G!
