Curriculum Vitae

Mingyu Ma has been a PhD student at the chair since September 2023. He completed his diploma studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at TU Dresden from 2019 to 2023. In 2018, he earned his B.Sc. degree in Communication Engineering from XiDian University in Xi’an, China. Currently, he is focusing on topics related to network softwarization, including data plane programming and haptic communication.

Projects/Cooperation within CeTI you are involved in:
I am involved in the M5 “Softwarised Networks” room, contributing to the development of the C3PO software-defined communication platform. My work focuses on in-network computing, programmable data planes, and Open RAN, and I collaborate with researchers from other CeTI rooms on related topics.

What are the main topics or questions that drive your research?

Programmable networks, in-network computing, software-defined platforms, and Open RAN, with a focus on performance metrics such as low latency and low packet loss rates.

What inspired you to pursue your current field of work?

The idea that networks can be programmed like computers and that low-level packet processing can shape system-level performance.

What excites you most about being part of CeTI?

The C3PO platform and the close collaboration between networking, AI, and systems researchers.

Which challenge or question has recently sparked your curiosity?

Deciding where network functions should run (software-based platforms versus programmable hardware) under tight latency and energy constraints, and how to optimize this placement for different application scenarios and workload characteristics.

How do you like to recharge or spend your time outside of work?

Hiking and exploring new places.
