I’m Annika, I studied psychology at Humboldt University in Berlin and now work as a research assistant at the Chair of Engineering Psychology and Applied Cognition Research at TU Dresden.
What were you like at school?
My last report card says “Annika continued to participate in class very attentively with inner interest […] […].” That sums it up quite well. I was usually good in writing, but not so much orally …
What was your favorite subject?
Math, right from the start and right up to the Abitur. I didn’t like German at all at grammar school, I often found it difficult even with my “inner” interest. A German teacher actually gave me the idea to study psychology with her lessons. So from a learning psychology perspective, the teacher certainly did everything right.
What was your dream job as a child?
I used to like Bert in Mary Poppins, he did something different every time and always seemed happy. I can’t remember having a dream job as a child that I often acted out. I was never so set in my ways and probably still am not today. I regularly think of great professions that I would like to try out. Fortunately, my current job is very varied and often offers the opportunity to learn something new.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
Going for a walk and exercising in the fresh air with at most one other person :D
Do you prefer coffee or tea?
Definitely tea, preferably black with lots of milk. I don’t like coffee.
What really drives you up the wall?
This question? No, of course not. I’d say I’m pretty even-tempered and if I’m not, then I’m more annoyed than angry. Angry is also possible, of course, but when something really gets me going, it’s just as surprising for me as it is for others.
What do you like about Dresden?
Oh, lots of things … The Elbe and the Elbe meadows are really beautiful. And even after several years, I still love the view of the illuminated Old Town at night from the Carola Bridge. That’s why the movie nights on the banks of the Elbe in summer with this fantastic backdrop are always something special.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how disciplined are you?
Well, sometimes 1 and sometimes 10 and often somewhere in between. But I get to 10 just before a deadline at the latest … that stands for very disciplined, doesn’t it?
