Luca Oppici

Luca obtained his Bachelor and Master in human movement science at the University of Milan, Italy in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Then, he moved to Australia where in 2014, after 2 years of fun working & holiday, started his PhD examining how practitioners can manipulate practice conditions to promote motor skill learning. In 2018, obtained his PhD and managed for 2 years a project on embodied cognition in primary-school children.
In September 2019, Luca joined CeTI at the Chair of Psychology of Learning and Instruction. His research focuses on designing and implementing practice conditions for promoting the learning of society-relevant skills. His research foci span a variety of domains, such as preventative measures for low-back pain in the occupational sector, and training interventions for surgical laparoscopic skills.

Projects/Cooperation within CeTI you are involved in:

– Smart Kinesiotape: design, development and implementation of a kinesiotape with embedded sensors and actuators for preventive low back pain in workers.
– Feedback strategies for laparoscopic skill training: design of appropriate feedback strategies (in terms of feedback content and modality) for training laparoscopic skills to medical students.
– Surf-related balance training: design of a strategy for training surf-related balance on a custom-made surfing simulator.
– TaHIL for piano teaching and learning: explore what technology applications piano teachers and students would like to implement in their routine.

CeTI summer school in 2019 where I met many colleagues.

What else would you like to research?

I am gradually moving towards researching society-relevant issues and I would like to be involved in climate-related research.

How do you spend your spare time?

Having fun with my wife and little daughter, practicing sports, and reading books.
