On 22 and 23 September 2025, the socialBRIDGES – Presence conference, organised by Merle Fairhurst and dedicated to the theme of presence in its various forms: physical, social and digital, took place in Dresden and online.

The event brought together scholars and professionals from the fields of neuroscience, psychology, performance studies, VR/AR and HCI, providing a space for interdisciplinary and innovative dialogue.

We were honoured to welcome the following keynote speakers:

  • Prof. Mel Slater (University of Barcelona)
  • Prof. Kristine Nowak (University of Connecticut)
  • Prof. Olaf Blanke (EPFL Lausanne)

Through conferences, panels and open discussions, participants explored new perspectives on the meaning of being present.
