On 11 February 2024, the RoboLab of the Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) at TU Dresden hosted young girls, aged between 8 and 14, accompanied by their mothers, for the Mother-Daughter Robotics Workshop. This collaborative initiative between CeTI, TU Dresden and HTW Dresden, as part of the Women@DDc network, organised on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, left an indelible mark on the participants, inspiring a new generation of female innovators.

Under the motto “Out of school – in the lab! – Robotics”, the workshop offered a unique opportunity for girls and their mothers to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of robotics. In CeTI’s RoboLab, participants engaged in hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations and collaborative projects, transforming theoretical knowledge into tangible experience.

The success of the event was undoubtedly fuelled by the collaboration between CeTI, TU Dresden and HTW Dresden. Their shared commitment to promoting the role of women and girls in science and technology was evident in every aspect of the workshop, creating an inclusive and encouraging environment for exploration and learning.

The workshop succeeded in breaking the traditional stereotypes associated with STEM education and encouraged girls to imagine themselves as capable of contributing to the fields of science and technology.

CeTI, TU Dresden and HTW Dresden not only opened the doors to these young girls, but also paved the way for a more inclusive and diverse landscape in science and technology.

In conclusion, the Mother-Daughter Robotics Workshop at CeTI is a testament to the transformative power of hands-on learning, collaboration and the unwavering belief that every girl has the potential to be a pioneer in the world of STEM.
