What does the music of tomorrow have in store for us? Artificial intelligence, augmented reality, the Internet of Skills or Tactile Internet – what influence do they have on the world of music? Will new pieces be composed exclusively by computers? Will musicians be replaced by robots and machines? Or will humans and machines benefit from mutual learning? Prof. Frank Fitzek, Prof. Shu-Chen Li and Prof. Susanne Narciss (TUD) got to the bottom of these and other questions together with musicians Prof. Karl-Heinz Simon and Mirjam Hinrichs from the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden at the concert “Sound & Science” on June 3, 2021.

Artificial Intelligence and Music

“Sound & Science” is the joint event series of the Dresdner Musikfestspiele (DMF) and the TUD. As one of the most important European festivals, the Dresdner Musikfestspiele combines tradition and modernity and presents a top-class program of extraordinary density and diversity every year in May and June. In the dialogue between the important and formative voices of the international classical music scene and the unique cultural and historical environment with around 25 festival venues, including the Frauenkirche, Semperoper, Kreuzkirche and the Kulturpalast, Dresden becomes a vibrant festival city.
