Curriculum Vitae

I am a PhD student in the Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience group as part of the 6G-life project at the TU Dresden. Since December 2021, I am working on my current project that investigates mechanisms of plausible multisensory augmentation. Concretely, I am interested in how affective touch is spatiotemporally integrated into a unitary percept and how this process changes across the lifespan.  Prior to my PhD, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Bremen and my M.Sc. in Cognitive Affective Neurosciences at the TU Dresden. My master thesis investigated age-related differences in processing boundaries.

  • Expectancy-based multisensory perception

What are the main topics or questions that drive your research?

We investigate how visual information influences touch perception. This will help us to improve our understanding of touch perception – specially, with how we integrate actuator technologies into virtual reality platforms.

What inspired you to pursue your current field of work?

I was curious to study perception in a more holistic way. Therefore, my aim was to move away from experiments that only elicited responses in one sensory modality, and to combine newly developed tactile actuators with commercially available virtual reality systems.

What excites you most about being part of CeTI?

I am looking forward to being part of an interdisciplinary research group – motivating us to form collaborations with incredibly well-trained researchers and allowing us to perform our research at high-quality research facilities.

Which challenge or question has recently sparked your curiosity?

  • How do we (cognitively) process multisensory stimuli in virtual environments.
  • How can we design human experiments that spark interest in participants but also allow researchers to gain new insights.

How do you like to recharge or spend your time outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am passionate about almost every sport and play football myself. I also love to explore new places, visit concerts and listen to music.
