The second funding phase of the Cluster of Excellence CeTI officially kicked off yesterday at the Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks. To mark the start of this new phase, principal investigators and researchers from across CeTI came together. Alongside many familiar faces, the kick-off also welcomed new colleagues joining the cluster.

A central highlight of the event was the project presentation by Prof. Frank Fitzek, CeTI Speaker, who outlined the overarching vision of CeTI². The focus lies on rethinking how humans, machines, and communication systems interact – enabled by advances in networked robotics, artificial intelligence, sensor technologies, immersive digital environments, and next-generation communication networks.

CeTI² addresses a range of concrete application areas, including surgery, care, work, edutainment, and space. These domains are closely interconnected through shared technological foundations, methods, and infrastructures. Strong interdisciplinarity, joint research platforms, and close collaboration across disciplines remain defining elements of the cluster.

The kick-off event marked a motivating and inspiring start to CeTI², setting the course for impactful, visible, and socially relevant research in the years to come.
